OK! I don't think I'm alone here when I say that the seeing epic prop bets and yearly goals fulfilled in the PG&C forums at 2p2 are some of the most inspiring things you will read in the online poker world. I'm not really one for new years resolutions or similar; I think part of the reason for that is I continually fall short of goals that from the outset were either not feasible, or not feasible due to being results-orientated (for example, I'll earn X thousand dollars this month instead of playing X thousand hands).
In any case, I'm going to try and adjust my horizons a bit this time, and try and shoot for goals that I think I should be able to achieve if I can maintain a good work ethic over a variety of aspects of my life, rather than what I usually do, which is focus on a single goal and relentlessly attack that while practically ignoring everything else.
Lifestyle goals:
I am pretty active with various sports, but I'm 3 days into quitting smoking. (3 days in so far, weee!). I also want to limit drinking to 2 nights a week tops.
Poker Goals:
Monthly:
I want to get 13500 vpps a month to stay on pace for Supernova.
Yearly:
I want to move from playing 50nl and 100nl CAP to 200nl by December (tentatively - 400nl?). This seems like a thinly veiled results orientated goal to me, since in order to compete at those levels I obv need fairly good results between now and the end of the year. But I really want this.
I also want to put some time into learning another game format. I have a friend that grinds big superturbos at Merge and Revolution, so the re-introduction of FTP (who had the same format as these games) makes me inclined to learn those. I'm actually in two minds about learning the Stars hypers or the FTP superturbo format, because I'm not sure what site I will want to be grinding on after the reopening of Full Tilt. I envision it to either be: FTP shallow tables, supers OR Stars CAP, Hypers. I need to think about this a bit more in the near future.
Work:
Fire Brigade:
I want to become rescue accredited for the NSW fire brigade. In NSW the fire brigade is responsible for primary rescue (car accidents etc), and I still have a fair bit of training to complete to become certified for this.
HM:
I want to continue to grow within the HM company and try to take on/absorb as much information as possible so that I can be a great resource to the company and clients.
Dev:
I want to build my skills in scripting code and .NET. I don't really have any set goals at this, just to be able to complete various projects I have set out for me and to grow in that area as much as I can.
Anyway, that's it for now. Once a month I'll make a post updating you guys with my progress in all of these areas, in between then I'll just post random stuff I think is interesting :)
Oh, before I go, I may as well post some more results (this is far less than my total hands but I have them spread out over 3 pcs and don't have time to import them all into one for a pic right now!)
